OCR: AM/FM EXODUS - "THE ZONE WARRIOR MUSIC DISK" MUSIC DISK 17-BIT SOFTWARE DISK NO: 2960 Reviewed by Bjorn A. Lynne After a very simple loading-routine consisting of an "ascii-drawn" Exodus logo, this music disk simply displays a *very very* basic menu screen looking like it's set up in DPaint in about 10 minutes. Ok, so it's one of those disks which are presented for the music *only* and the presentation is obviously ignored completely. Fair enough. I've never had anything against that, what-so- ever . It goes to show that it's simply a music-disk and nothing more. Perhaps it makes us listen closer to the music itself? Still, I can't help thinking that at least some credits and info would be nice. I don't have any idea at all as to the name of the guy who made the music. Which is a pity really, because it was actually quite good ? There are 5 songs to choose from; and they are all in the techno/dance style. Again: Fair enough. Tracker-styled music editors are, after all, very suitable for this kind of music. The music is what I would call "mainstream techno/rave/dance" without going too far from the already well trodden path of this music style. Still, it sounds quite fresh and funky. The composer has chosen his instruments fairly well, and although I'm not really a big fan of this music style, the songs *did* get my feet thumping the beat, and for some reason, I didn't want to turn it off right away, which is most often the case with me when I hear rave-music. In particular, I liked the last track on the list; "Cabra". Of course, there were *some* samples which are just SO over-used that it only embarassed me when I heard them, like "Pump this party!" etc. Sigh ... if you're gonna use silly speech-samples in the song, could you at least find something that hasn't been used in about 1.2 billion other songs ??? In overall, I can safely recommend this disk to techno/dance/rave-fans. The presentation "sucks big time", but just choose to ignore it and feel the music instead, which is definitely way above average quality. Well done dude, whatever your name or pseudonym is ... Too bad it wasn't stated somewhere on the disk! Rating: 70% AM/FM
